The Presentation Swap

Sofia and Martin were presenting separate research projects at college. Ten minutes before class, Sofia opened her slides and discovered Martin’s presentation on her laptop. They had used the same memory drive in the library and accidentally saved their files under identical names.

Martin’s laptop was at home, and the library computer had already deleted its temporary files. Sofia felt responsible because she had saved last. Martin was frustrated, but blaming her would not recover the work. He still had his notes and several charts in his email. They asked the teacher to present at the end of the class.

While other students spoke, Sofia rebuilt the basic slides and Martin shortened his talk. Their new version was simpler than the original, but the argument was clearer. The teacher praised their calm response and suggested they explain the mistake as part of the presentation. Afterwards, they agreed on a new rule: every shared file would include the owner’s initials and the date.
